The Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN) is scheduled to shut down in December 2025.
Starting from 5th of September 2023, the UK national ‘stop sell’ policy will be implemented. This means that all providers in the UK will cease the sale of traditional phone lines and fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) broadband services. Furthermore, no modifications can be made to your existing telephony infrastructure. Every business in the UK will be required to transition to a fully digital network that utilizes Internet Protocol (IP) through a fiber-based or mobile service like 4G/5G networks.
The discontinuation of PSTN services will not only affect telephony services but will also necessitate an upgrade to your current broadband connection. Additionally, any equipment currently reliant on the PSTN network, such as alarms, EPOS machines, door entry systems, CCTV, and so on, will also need to be upgraded to an alternative solution.
